Thor, like many of our rescued big cats, didn't have the best start to life. She was born at Exotic Animal Paradise, a roadside zoo in Springfield, Missouri. At this facility she did not receive proper care or nutrition. When we rescued her she was severely underweight and we were told she was only being fed about 5-6 lbs of meat for her and her sister Gracie to share. (Now they each eat between 9-11 lbs a day) Due to this lack of proper nutrition both Thor and Gracie's growth was stunted and they are a little undersized even today.
Thankfully for Thor in August of 2006 Exotic Animal Paradise's owner decided to close the facility and Thor found her forever home here at Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary. We were able to rescue Thor, along with her sister Gracie, their mother (Raja) and their father (Mohan). Sadly, both Thor and Gracie had been declawed before we rescued them. While it took Thor a little while to feel completely at home, with the help of her sister she settled in pretty quickly.
Thor is now doing great in her forever home! Some of her favorite things to do are lounge in her hammock, play with her enrichment (especially banners and perfumes), antagonize her sister, and relax. When it comes to personality, Thor tends to be one of our most stubborn and independent cats, but when she does open up she has a great chuff! Despite her rough start in life, now this independent, beautiful tiger can relax in peace thanks the supporters like YOU!
